Why cinnamon?
In naming our table, we decided to break from the tradition of names associated directly with Sri Lanka from its past (Serendib, Taprobane, Seylan, etc) and instead opted to use cinnamon, one of Sri Lanka's prime exports which is praised for its unparalleled quality.
What is Round Table?
Round Table is an international association of young men from 18-45 years of age, who have devoted some of their free time to build new friendships and make the world a better place. Over 38,000 members all around the world have linked into a network of common values and ideas, carried by the belief that talking, understanding and helping each other is the best way to avoid violence, war and hatred. We are neither a political nor a religious group. Round Table embraces representatives of nearly every profession and occupation, whose objects encompass the encouragement of high ethical standards, the promotion of social interactivity and fellowship among young professional men, the betterment of public welfare, and the promotion of understanding amongst peoples of different cultural, language and political backgrounds. Members are commonly addressed to as Tablers (Tr. in short). Round Table International is active in building these relationships by promoting international meetings between national Boards, jump start number club meetings, offer holiday opportunities for the family and promote international cooperation. A basis for Round Table is the fellowship we share. Most active members are in the age group 25-45, resourceful people with a family life and a good job and social status.
Aims and objectives of Round Table
- To develop the fellowship of young men through the medium of their business and professional occupation and community service activities.
- To encourage active and responsible citizenship by cultivating the highest ideals in business, professional, and civic traditions.
- To promote and further international understanding friendship and co-operation.
- To promote the extension of the association.
